A blog is a funny thing... a portal to parade my life on the interweb. Sadly, I never take the time to become an exhibitionist via html. It is far more “interesting” to stay a “mystery” while maintaining a boring life of working, eating, and sleeping. Therefore, I will keep the illusion of mystery alive and simply provide a summary...

Summer has been busy and time has been scarce (barring a few excellent outings with friends and family). As per the usual, weddings reign supreme and work fills in the gaps. I managed to fit in a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and a few random camping trips to keep myself sane, but alas, I have very little to report beyond those outdoor adventures.

I will be moving back to Bloomington, Minnesota permanently (God willing) come the beginning of next month and I am currently on the prowl for a “regular” job. In other words, it would be nice to work for someone else for a bit. The seasons are changing yet again and another year is winding about and rushing past. So far so good.

The end.

Facebook Facelift = Devil?

In so few words... no. I have seen many negative comments regarding the Facebook Facelift on Blogs and thought I would chime in with my lowly opinion. My opinion is solely in discussion of the functionality that accompanied the update and I am not commenting on the increasingly cluttered profile page. This is simply a rally for why the News Feeds are a good thing and not a bad (stalker-ish, creepy, invasive, insert word of choice) thing. Please note, the following is my opinion based on my interpretation of fact, though I am happy to open the topic up to intelligent discussion.

The following list contains three simple reasons why I think that the Facebook Facelift is not the work of the devil:
1.) Facebook is a social network - an online community that facilitates the spread of information using technology. Technology that has presented information in an amazingly natural, easy to understand, and easily accessible manner via the Facebook Facelift.
2.) Users post information and make updates of their own free will and all of the information presented via the Facebook Facelift is accessible by simply viewing profiles in a network of friends.
3.) My Privacy is a good place to visit on Facebook, it allows for blocking or limiting of profile information in many ways from specific groups and/or from specific people.

I don't know, but I have seen it all within the past week.

If not, you are missing out (and are probably not sitting next to him at 1:00 AM in front of a computer watching a compiler do its thing). Ok, so it has been a week since I moved into his basement, but it doesn't feel like it. They (Ryan and Katy) have been amazing hosts and have made me feel comfortable enough to truly consider the dungeon... uh... I mean their basement... my home away from home. Our "project" is coming along extremely well and although we are not yet "raking in the dough", we are learning a lot and having fun along the way. As of now, I anticipate being able to grace them with my presence through the beginning of next week, making my original plan of leaving... uh... around now... null and void. I'll try to keep my public (ok, I'll admit, the only person I know who actually continues to read this is Morlok) aware of the "situation" around here. I'll focus less on work and more on the peripheral (fun) stuff...
